David Ivon Gower OBE (born 1 April 1957) is an English cricket commentator and former cricketer who was captain of the England cricket team during the 1980s. Described as one of the most stylish left-handed batsmen of his era, Gower played 117 Test matches and 114 One Day Internationals (ODI) scoring 8,231 and 3,170 runs, respectively.

Player Bio. David Gower, the former captain who pulled his first ball in Test cricket for a boundary in 1978, was one of England's most consistent batsmen of the 1980s. In 117 Tests, Gower piled up 8231 runs at 44.25, scoring 18 centuries. He also played 114 ODIs in which he scored 3170 runs at 30.77.
