24 de ene. de 2023 · In the middle of Isaiah’s prophecy, he diagnoses Judah’s problem of hypocrisy, which is bringing about their judgment: “These people come near to me with their mouth and honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. Their worship of me is based on merely human rules they have been taught” (Isaiah 29:13).
Isaiah himself had spoken of Jehovah as "a stone of stumbling" (Isaiah 8:14). We must go back to Jacob's parting blessing upon his sons to find the same figure in patriarchal days (Genesis 49:24). Joseph's history was a picture of the rejecting of "the stone" and of its final triumph.
