De ascendencia judía e irlandesa, comenzó haciendo sus pinitos en la actuación con anuncios y muy pronto dio el salto al cine. En 1993 debutó con 'Señora Doubtfire', junto a Robin Williams y Sally Field y a partir de ahí se le abrieron las puertas de la meca del cine.
