A body of experience… the acquisition of knowledge or skills through experience, study, or by being taught… I met Phil Spalding in London in 2019 when I interviewed him for my Know Your Bass Player film series with Mark Preston, Derek Hanlon, and Oliver Harley Symonds. As best as I can recall he was recommended to me by bassist / publicist Dave Clarke, to whom I am greatly appreciative of.
8 de feb. de 2023 · In Memoriam: Phil Spalding. Sad news to report today as bassist Phil Spalding has died of undisclosed causes. He was 65 years old. Spalding was born in London and worked at a bank in the early ’70s before joining Bernie Tormé in 1976. In the next few years, he would collaborate with Toyah.
