Life is typically lumped together with Landing on Water as the second of Young's two Geffen-era synth rock albums.Despite the similarities, Life is totally different in sound, tone and feel from its predecessor. I get the sense that Young was consciously trying to nail an 'eighties' sound and to that end channels Bruce Springsteen, Van Halen and Queen at various points on the record.
