Carolyn Mark, an alt-country singer from British Columbia, was a huge devotee of Altman’s movie; having no cable TV, little money, and only a few videotapes led to her watching it over 80 times. She put on a stage version of the film with a few of her friends; it was such a hit that she went a step further and recorded an entire tribute album.
