Participou como baixista do grupo Manfred Mann.

Heute zählt das Cover zum Album Revolver zu den Meisterwerken der Cover-Artwork, Klaus Voormann erhielt als erster Deutscher einen Grammy. Danach folgten weit über 100 Aufträge, größtenteils aus den USA und Großbritannien, aus Japan, Kanada, Australien, Deutschland und den europäischen Nachbarländern.
