Philip Glass's chamber works here with pianist Paul Barnes and Brooklyn Rider quartet all have the same tone and style and only care in listening can they be differentiated. The feature work, Annunciation, has its theme based on a Byzantine hymn and re-employs the chord progression he used in the opera Orphée.

One of them was a student work, “String Quartet” from 1959 composed while Glass was a masters student at Juilliard. During this Brooklyn Rider project Orange Mountain Music was operating out of “Glass headquarters” which was at 632 Broadway in New York.
In April 2018, Paul Barnes and the Chiara String Quartet presented the world premiere of “Annunciation,” the first piano quintet written by acclaimed composer Philip Glass at the Lied Center
