  3. Whitney Young Magnet High School offers a very rigorous college preparatory curriculum with two programs: 1. The Magnet High School Program: Grades 9–12, with approximately 1,951 students. 2. The Academic Center: Grades 7–8, approximately 256 students. Both programs require special application and entrance testing.

  4. Last spring (2012), 891 Whitney Young students took a total of 1,767 AP exams. Out of those exams, 79% of the students earned a score of 3 or higher. The current cost for AP exams is $89 per exam. Students who qualify for Free or Reduced lunch pay only $10 per exam. Fees are collected through the School Store during the month of February.
