Secret Messages is, well, different. The title track is still a bright and new-wave ELO track that blends into Loser Gone Wild as seamlessly as Back in the U.S.S.R. to Dear Prudence. There are a lot of good things to be said about this album, but there are some aesthetic contingencies that make people overall dislike it.
With Secret Messages, Jeff Lynne succeeded in sticking to a sound throughout an entire album and writing catchy songs throughout. While the minimalism of Letter from Spain and driving semi-post-punk of Secret Messages show the diversity of the songs on the record, the consistently catchy songwriting and high quality production ties it all together.
30 de ago. de 2018 · Electric Light Orchestra’s tenth studio album, Secret Messages, was originally conceived as a double LP, but the group’s record company was initially unwilling to release Jeff Lynne’s classic offering in its entirety.Therefore, when Secret Messages reached record bins in 1983, it was a shorter, abbreviated version containing only 10 of its original 18 tracks.
"Beatles Forever" is an unreleased song by Electric Light Orchestra in 1983, written by Jeff Lynne and intended for the album Secret Messages. Initially, it was to be the seventh track of the double album configuration, featured on side two of the LP. When the album was shortened to a single LP by CBS Records, eight of the eighteen total tracks were removed, including "Beatles Forever."
