Hobart and William Smith Colleges, located in the heart of the Fingerlakes in Upstate, NY is a small, liberal arts college. HWS is located on Seneca Lake which is background to a beautiful campus. With small class sizes, dedicated faculty and staff and a history filled with traditions, this college offers a unique and exciting college experience.
Distinct from the major and minor, many students choose to pursue teacher certification while at the Colleges. Offerings include 15 NYS-registered teacher certification programs in elementary education and teaching students with disabilities (grades 1-6), in most secondary school subjects (grades 7-12), and in music, art, and TESOL (grades preK-12).

Merit-based Scholarships. Merit scholarships are awarded at the time of admission and range up to $40,500. These scholarships are good for the time the student is enrolled at HWS as an undergraduate as long as the scholarship recipients meet satisfactory academic progress, uphold community standards and maintain a minimum 2.0 cumulative GPA.
