Portsmouth Abbey Monastery is the house of prayer and work for the Benedictine Monks of English Congregation. It was started in 1919. The Abbey Church is dedicated to St Gregory the Great and Queen of Peace. The monks live the life according to the Rule of St Benedict and pray for the needs of the Holy Catholic Church and the Whole World. Portsmouth Abbey School is an apostolate for the monks.
Overview. Portsmouth Abbey School is a Catholic, co-educational boarding and day school for students in grades 9 through 12. The school is located on a beautiful 525-acre campus along Narragansett Bay, just a few miles from Newport, RI. For over 90 years, Abbey`s liberal arts curriculum has prepared students for lives of significance and purpose.
