This is a compilation re-release of the two Ellen McIlwaine albums: The Real Ellen McIlwaine (1975) and Everybody Needs It (1982). ENI was recorded in Chicago with Jack Bruce, one of my heroes, on bass and background vocals. TREM was recorded in Montreal with members of the Ville Émard Blues Band.

Amazing album that defies categorization. Bought it because I am a Jack Bruce fan. Now I am an Ellen fan as well.She is the real deal. While that is enough for music lovers it's usually not translated into huge sales. Very musical endeavor. Check it out for some good blues based music.Not just blues...Just buy it if you see it!

It is followed by the earlier 1975 release "The Real Ellen McIlwaine", which works very well. It consists of more of the solo Ellen and lots of guitar, with the slide on the opening song "Higher Ground" (StevieWonder) grabbing you straight away. All in all a worthwhile addition to any serious collection and a must for Jack Bruce fans.
