A daughter, Colette de Jouvenel, nicknamed Bel-Gazou, was born to them in 1913. 1920s and 1930s Colette, painted c. 1896 by Jacques Humbert. In 1920, Colette published Chéri, portraying love between an older woman and a much younger man.
She was finally divorced from Willy in 1910, and in 1912 she married Henry de Jouvenel, editor in chief of the paper Le Matin, to which she contributed theatre chronicles and short stories. Their daughter (b. 1913) is the Bel-Gazou of the delightful animal story La Paix chez les bêtes (1916; some stories translated as Dogs, Cats, & I ).

Colette, Henry et Bertrand de Jouvenel. De 1910 à 1925, deux membres de la famille Jouvenel entretiennent avec Colette des liaisons successives. Le premier, Henry, l’a épousée en 1912 et a eu d’elle son troisième enfant, sa seule fille, « la petite Colette », que sa mère rendra célèbre sous le surnom de Bel-Gazou.
