Steele, driven by discussions about the band’s lyrical content with producer Sean McMahon and his own spiritual reflections as a Christian, made the decision to vacate the burgeoning group.
19 de mar. de 2019 · Of all the many people who may be Slipknot’s new percussionist, we know one person who for sure will not get that call: Donnie Steele. Steele, in case you’re unaware, was one of the band’s guitarists before they were signed; following the death of Paul Gray, he was brought back into the fold to play bass for live shows (albeit from off-stage).
The band started in 1995 by vocalist and percussionist clown, guitarists Donnie Steele and Josh "Gnar" Brainard, bassist Paul Gray, drummer Joey Jordison ,and percussionist Shawn Crahan. [1] Before the band released its first album in 1999, Slipknot has gone through many line-up changes. After their first album, the line-up has stayed the same.

Line-ups changed: original guitarists Donnie Steele and Josh Brainard left, the former after he “found Christ”, the latter lost interest.
During February of 1996 (the post production stages of MFKR) a big change happened within Donnie Steele, he found God. He realized that he couldn’t be in a band like Slipknot with the beliefs he had. As a result he decided to leave the band. At this crucial point in the new bands short history, a new member was called up.
