Danny Elfman nació el 29 de mayo de 1953 en Los Ángeles, California. Familia Hijo de Blossom Bernstein, escritora y profesora, y de Milton Elfman, también profesor. Es tío del actor Bodhi Elfman. Se crio en una familia judía de Baldwin Hills área de Los Ángeles.
