6 de dic. de 2020 · Swallow Tales opens with “She Was Young”, a tune introduced on Steve Swallow’s ECM album Home, in 1979, where it was indeed sung, by Sheila Jordan. A number of the tunes addressed here – including “Falling Grace”, “Portsmouth Configurations”, and “Eiderdown” – belonged to the 1960s repertoire of Gary Burton’s groups.

ARTIST BIO. Steve Swallow was born in New York City in 1940, and spent his childhood in Fair Lawn, New Jersey. Before turning to the acoustic bass at age 14, he studied piano (with Howard Kasschau, who also taught Nelson Riddle) and trumpet. His otherwise miserable adolescence was brightened by his discovery of jazz.
