Waldo Pressman Salt nació en Chicago (Illinois, US) el 18 de octu-bre de 1914 en el seno de una familia cuyo padre pertenecía ideológi-camente al ala más conservadora de la derecha norteamericana. Su madre, tras una época de depresiones y problemas con el alcohol, se suicidó al inicio de su adolescencia.

The story is told through interviews with collaborators and friends such as Dustin Hoffman, Robert Redford, Jon Voight, John Schlesinger and with clips from Salt's films, chiefly Midnight Cowboy.
