Dizzy Heights was released with the expectation that it would at least consolidate the band’s standing, if not take them to the next level. Singles like “What If” and “Ready or Not” ably demonstrated that Broudie’s way with a tune remained undimmed, and “Sugar Coated Iceberg” was easily one of The Lightning Seeds ’ best tunes to date.
(co-written with Terry Hall) was released, as was Dizzy Heights a couple of weeks. It’s an album of two halves – one half heavily featuring the live band, the other half predominantly using samples, loops and programming. It still sounds like the Lightning Seeds but thankfully isn’t Jollification Mk2.
