Eager to record again but not excited about signing another record deal, Southside Johnny devised a new strategy and formed his own label, Leroy Records, to release his music when and how he wanted, and giving him full creative freedom. Leroy was launched with 2000's Messin' with the Blues, which featured the latest edition of the Asbury Jukes.
