13 de may. de 2024 · 1. Head Shape. Now pretty much all snakes have a triangle shaped head, however Pit Vipers (a family of venomous snakes) have exceptionally broad, triangle shaped heads. Their broad heads will be distinctly wider than the width of their neck, but these snakes are typically larger bodied snakes anyways.
15 de may. de 2024 · Snake eyes can show whether it’s venomous or not. Venomous snakes generally have slitted or elliptical pupils, while non-venomous snakes usually have round pupils. Baby copperheads have a copper-colored head, vertical pupils, and a heat-sensing pit between their eyes and nostrils, which helps them locate warm-blooded prey.

This is still recommended as one of the easiest ways to identify a venomous snake though. Slanted eyes are a surefire sign that a snake is venomous- and only one venomous snake in the US doesn’t have slanted eyes: the coral snake.
