7 de may. de 2024 · Columbia Records won the bidding and proceeded to overhype the band into oblivion, at one point simultaneously releasing five singles, confusing retailers and the record buying public. Matters were made worse by the band’s proclivity for bad behaviour, and Moby Grape broke up in 1969, sadly remembered more for their public relations fiascos than their considerable musical prowess.

10 de may. de 2024 · Summer of Love - "8:05" aus dem Jahr 1967 von der Band Moby Grape Moby Grape zählt zu den wichtigsten Bands der in San Francisco entstandenen Hippiebewegung. Die fünf Bandmitglieder fanden sich 1966 zusammen und schon ein Jahr später erschien ihr Song "8:05" auf dem Album, das den Namen der Formation trägt: "Moby Grape" - der Titel "8:05" landete sofort in den Billboard-Charts.
13 de may. de 2024 · The band—Jerry Garcia, Bob Weir, Ron McKernan, Phil Lesh, and Bill Kreutzmann—emerged from the same psychedelic San Francisco milieu that birthed Jefferson Airplane and Moby Grape, and the group’s shared house near the corner of Haight and Ashbury during 1967’s Summer of Love became a focal point for the scene.

6 de may. de 2024 · He decided he wanted out, the band was not going in the direction any of us wanted or expected and the sudden rise to stardom of Moby Grape killed him. He had been taught guitar by Jorma Kaukonen, always wanted to be in a band sounding like Jefferson Airplane, so he tried bringing back the first version of the Watchband with Danny Phay on vocals….It didn’t catch fire.
