13 de may. de 2024 · Stevie Ray Vaughan (born October 3, 1954, Dallas, Texas, U.S.—died August 27, 1990, East Troy, Wisconsin) was an American blues guitarist and vocalist best known for his boisterous, sometimes frenetic, guitar-playing style that heralded a revival of blues-rock music during the mid-1980s. Vaughan released six albums during his career, which was cut short by his death at age 35.
26 de may. de 2024 · Early life. Garcia's ancestors on his father's side were from Galicia in northwest Spain. His mother's ancestors were Irish and Swedish. He was born in the Excelsior District of San Francisco, California, on August 1, 1942, to Jose Ramon "Joe" Garcia and Ruth Marie "Bobbie" (née Clifford) Garcia, who was herself born in San Francisco. His parents named him after composer Jerome Kern.

Since he always (or at least mostly) played in a big band, he had to adapt and couldn’t play the usual guitar chords. In a big band, all ranges like bass, high notes, etc. are already covered. So the guitar had to fill the gap left open by other instruments.
