I just heard Blinding Lights for the first time tonight, as my 10 year old was playing it. 15 seconds of hearing it, I told her 'They ripped this song off from an artist in the 80's' And I played Young Turks from her, and her mouth dropped. Then I came to google and searched 'Blinding Lights Young Turks' and found this thread lol
After hearing Blinding Lights everywhere, I decided to check out The Weeknd for the first time during the pandemic. I have fond memories of taking walks in the woods behind my apartment while blasting After Hours in my headphones. What an amazing record

15 de feb. de 2022 · It was a little more marketable lyrically than say “Escape From LA”. It was also indifferent to the heartbreak ballads The Weeknd has almost specialized in throughout his career. Addictive hook + catchy lyrics+ 80's vibe + angelic voice+ outstanding beat = greatest song on the billboard of all time.

Many thanks to Faith tbf, the transition is incredible but as a song it is just timeless and does exactly what he intended. If I could give decimals, I'd say 9.5, as I do think Faith is an increment better, but considering Blinding lights does exactly what it was meant to, 10/10

In December 2020, Variety reported that Blinding Lights had around 4.5B global streams. It's well over 10B global streams at this point. How that song (or album) wasn’t nominated for a single Grammy in any category is a genuine mystery. It’s literally one of the biggest songs this century.
