Note how the line separating ice from water, line A to D, is negatively sloped. This means that if you start in the solid phase and apply enough pressure (move upward on the Y axis), you will incur a phase change to liquid.
If the valve is faulty or water pressure is too low, water can't flow through the valve so the ice maker won't get water to make ice. The valve needs at least 20 psi water pressure to work right. Check the valve has enough water pressure. If water pressure is good, use a voltmeter to check the valve gets power.

This switch is usually located behind the ice bucket and frequently gets turned off by accident. If the switch is turned on but the ice maker still doesn't work, check the switch for continuity with a multimeter. Replace as needed.

1. Low Water Pressure: One of the main reasons for hollow ice cubes is low water pressure. When there is not enough water flowing into the ice maker, only a thin layer of water freezes, resulting in hollow cubes. How to fix: Check your water supply line and ensure that it isn’t kinked or clogged.
