Degania Alef (Hebrew: דְּגַנְיָה א', Hebrew pronunciation: ['dɡanja 'alef]) is a kibbutz in northern Israel. The Jewish communal settlement ( kvutza ) was founded in 1910, making it the earliest socialist Zionist farming commune in the Land of Israel .

Degania Alef, on the shore of the Sea of Galilee, is the first kibbutz ever. It started as a commune of 12 or so people in 1910, and is now a community of a few hundred. The communal nature has somewhat lessened in this materialistic world of ours, but you can still get a feel for the atmosphere.

Degania Alef was established in 1911 and is one of the first kibbutz. It was the site of a major battle in the War of Independence in 1948. The Gordon Museum of History and Nature is housed at the kibbutz.
