Benjamin Jacob " Ben " Grimm, also known as the Thing, is a superhero appearing in American comic books published by Marvel Comics. He is a founding member of the Fantastic Four. The Thing was created by writer-editor Stan Lee and artist Jack Kirby, and he first appeared in The Fantastic Four #1 ( cover-dated Nov. 1961).
In the aftermath of the Fantastic Four's end, The Thing joined the Guardians of the Galaxy. His membership, however, didn't last long. The Guardians were called in by Captain Marvel to help her forces fight Iron Man's during the second superhuman civil war.

As a founder of the Fantastic Four, the Thing’s long list of foes exceeds that of most other heroes. Possibly his arch-enemy could be said to be Doctor Doom, whom Grimm met in college as Victor von Doom, Latverian monarch and scientific genius.
