23 de jun. de 2024 · Different types of cloud cover conditions include SKC (sky clear), FEW (trace), SCT (scattered), BKN (broken) and OVC (overcast). Cloud cover is reported in terms of 1/8th of sky cover with 1-2/8th being FEW, 3-4/8ths being SCT, 5-7/8th being BKN and 8/8 denoted at OVC.
11 de jul. de 2023 · So how is broken and overcast measured? By something called "octals", which are 8 equal segments of the sky. If the sky is covered between 5/8 and 7/8 with clouds, it's reported as broken.
The ceiling (coverage > 50% or 4/8th) is the height above the earth's surface of the lowest layer that is reported as broken (BKN) or overcast (OVC); or if the sky is totally obscured, the vertical visibility shall be the ceiling.
Para ello, se divide el cielo sobre el aeropuerto en ocho partes y, en función de cuántos octavos de cielo se encuentren cubiertos se indica lo siguiente: FEW de 1 a 2 octas de cielo cubierto. SCT (Scattered) de 3 a 4 octas de cielo cubierto. BKN (Broken) de 5 a 7 octas de cielo cubierto.
20 de jun. de 2017 · Categories are clear: less than 1/10, scattered: 1/10 to 5/10, broken: 6/10 to 9/10 and overcast: over 9/10. As the tabulated values are historical they give a climatological average of what are the possibilities of different cloud cover scenarios.
12 de sept. de 2021 · El siguiente grado de la escala es BKN (broken), que identificamos con un cielo nuboso, con las nubes cubriendo entre 5 y 7 octas, y por último tenemos el cielo cubierto, codificado como OVC (overcast), con 8 octas de nubosidad.
Cloud amount is reported as FEW = few (1-2 oktas), SCT = scattered (3-4 oktas), BKN = broken (5-7 oktas) or OVC = overcast (8 oktas), followed by the height of the cloud base in hundreds of feet above aerodrome elevation e.g. SCT018 = scattered clouds at 1800 ft.
