When meeting someone new, we usually stick to very basic conversation topics until we get to know the person better. While you may want to learn a lot about an interesting person, you need to be careful not to ask too many personal questions the first time you meet.
Listen to the language they use for meeting new people and practise saying the useful phrases. Do the preparation exercise first. Then watch the video and do the exercises to check your understanding and practise the language.
When I meet someone new for the first time, I usually ask him/her what is her/his name, where is he/she from, how old is he/she and what are his/her hobbies.
