They can take damage when falling and burned like any other ground mob, but they cannot drown. Once out of the water, the luminous ink is resistant to impact. Ink glows passively towards the player.

Glow squid generally just jet around the part of the Overworld where they spawned. They ignore other creatures, but they do need water to breathe – if they find themselves out of water then they’ll suffocate. If attacked, they’ll release a cloud of ink and try to swim away.

The only major difference is that when they're attacked, the ink they release in a moment of panic is turquoise rather than black.
