15 de sept. de 2013 · "To get someone to do something" is a standard phrase, meaning to ask them to paint the house, lend you some money etc. We also say "have someone do something" (without to ). This may explain why some people say "get someone repair your car", which is either very informal or non-standard.
TO GET SOMEONE TO DO SOMETHING. Form = Get + Object + Infinitive. Meaning = Persuade or Make somebody do something. This structure is often used when there is a sense of difficulty. Examples: I’ll have to get John to do this report. I won’t be able to finish it in time.
We use a causative verb when we want to talk about something that someone else did for us or for another person. It means that the subject caused the action to happen, but didn't do it themselves. Maybe they paid, or asked, or persuaded the other person to do it.
