Kurt knocks Angel into the walls of the cage severely damaging his left wing. Mystique has found the fight club and shuts off the power to the fences allowing Angel and Nightcrawler to escape, Angel fights his way out, but Kurt is taken by Mystique.
The villagers of Winzeldorf, who assumed from Kurt's appearance that he was a demon who was responsible for the child killings, discovered Wagner. They were about to kill him when they were all psychically paralyzed by Professor Charles Xavier , who had come to recruit Wagner into the X-Men.
Wagner betrayed the group and saved American spy Mimic/Calvin Rankin from fellow agents and vowed to get out of the country. Wagner was informed that Rankin himself was Weapon X, the prime target sought by Rose. Wagner apprehended and shot Szardos but not before she burned his face with a torch. X-Men: The End

X2: X-Men United, released in 2003, was the followup to 2001's X-Men, though it was the first to feature Nightcrawler, also known as Kurt Wagner.Kurt's humor and impressive powers brought kinetic energy and levity to the film.

But Kurt’s heroism carried a cost, and amid celebrating with his friends after his resurrection, we also learned Nightcrawler’s actions had left him without a soul. Bummer. -
