The College will be closed to all visitors on 27 September, October 6th and 20 December – 31 December, all dates inclusive, but see below for New Year’s Day 2025). Despite being in the centre of Oxford, Magdalen is teeming with flora and fauna, including kingfishers, and otters.
Undergraduate Visiting Students. If you are a student from overseas and wish to spend up to one year in Oxford in general study or courses related to a degree in your university you can apply for a place as a visiting student.
Visiting Magdalen. Potential applicants and their families are very welcome to look around Magdalen on any day of the year. Simply tell the porter on duty that you are a prospective applicant and you will be admitted free of charge and given a copy of our student-written Alternative Prospectus.

Established in 1458 by William of Waynflete, Magdalen College is a constituent college of the University of Oxford. It is the fourth richest college and one of the strongest academically, setting the Norrington Score record in 2010.
Visits to Cambridge. The best way to learn about life as a student in Cambridge is to come and visit us. Magdalene frequently hosts visiting school groups, with priority going to schools in our Link areas of Merseyside, North Wales, and the Isle of Man.
