The pair married in June 2002, and have since welcomed two daughters—Maddy, 18, and Kiki, 14. Although Nadia and Mark have been married for nearly 20 years, their marriage has been far from plain-sailing after Mark's alcoholism nearly broke them.
Sawalha was raised and still lives in Croydon, South London. She is the daughter of the Jordanian-born British actor Nadim Sawalha and his English wife Roberta Lane. She is the sister of television actress Julia Sawalha and has appeared on Lily Savage's Blankety Blank with her.

Nadim Sawalha was born on 9 September 1933 in Madaba, Jordan. He is an actor, known for The Living Daylights (1987), Captain Abu Raed (2007) and The Avengers (1998). He has been married to Roberta Lane since 1961. They have three children.
