John Keith Gilbert (August 17, 1934 – April 22, 2021) was a Canadian actor, most noted as a Dora Mavor Moore Award nominee for Best Leading Actor (General Theatre) in 1994 for his performance as Ebenezer Scrooge in Young People's Theatre's 1993 production of A Christmas Carol.

John Gilbert (born John Cecil Pringle; July 10, 1897 [1] – January 9, 1936) was an American actor, screenwriter and director. He rose to fame during the silent era and became a popular leading man known as "The Great Lover". His breakthrough came in 1925 with his starring roles in The Merry Widow and The Big Parade.
Mini Bio. John Gilbert was born into a show-business family - his father was a comic with the Pringle Stock Company. By 1915 John was an extra with Thomas H. Ince 's company and a lead player by 1917. In those days he was assistant director, actor or screenwriter. He also tried his hand at directing.
