Friends Seminary is a private school founded in 1786 by a Quaker merchant, Robert Murray. It offers an academic program rooted in Quaker beliefs and practices, and promotes diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism.
Friends Seminary is an independent K-12 school in Manhattan within the landmarked district in the East Village. The oldest continuously coeducational school in New York City, Friends Seminary serves 794 students in Kindergarten through Grade 12.

It offers a college-prep curriculum, service learning, and a diverse student body, but has low ratings for diversity and clubs and activities.
We educate students from K-12, adhering to the values of the Religious Society of Friends. We strive to build a diverse school where students exercise their curiosity and imagination as they develop as scholars, artists and athletes.
