12 de feb. de 2013 · Eslanda Robeson, known by her friends as “Essie,” was an author, ... She died in 1965. She was initially a scientist and a chemist. She met Paul Robeson in 1919, and they married in 1921.
Diagnosed with cancer in 1963, Eslanda Robeson died on 13 December 1965. As her husband’s own health was poor at the time, her life was marked only with a small private service for immediate family, followed by cremation. In a special issue of Freedomways magazine, novelist and friend Alice Childress wrote:
Eslanda was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1963 and died two years later. The next year, Robeson came to live with his sister Marian at the house that now bears his name. Aim of the study group. Campbell says she would like the group to acknowledge Eslanda through activities at the house.

Eslanda Robeson was featured in three films, and studied at LSE from 1933-1935 and in the Lent term of the session 1937-38. At LSE, she studied under Bronislaw Malinowski, the Chair of Anthropology, who was considered one of the most important anthropologists of the 20th century. There she developed her interest in Africa.
