The School is in Stratton-on-the-Fosse on the A367. The main entrance gates, marked Downside School, are one mile into the village on the right if approaching from the north. We are just 25 minutes’ drive from Bath , Bristol airport is 40 minutes’ drive and London Heathrow airport is 2.5 hours away.

Coordinates: 51°15′18″N 2°29′42″W. Downside School (simply referred to as Downside) is an 11–18 mixed, Roman Catholic, independent, day and boarding school in Stratton-on-the-Fosse, Somerset, England. It was established in 1614 and is located in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Clifton .
International Admissions. We proud of our diverse community at Downside, with around 40% of our pupils living outside the UK, representing over 20 different nationalities. Many of our families are British expats living abroad, who choose Downside for their full boarding community and busy and purposeful weekends.
Royal Visitors. One of the saddest moments in Downside’s history occurred in 1943 when a fighter plane crashed into the cricket pitch killing nine pupils and the pilot.
