Introducing the Trustees of Indiana University. The trustees bring a wealth of experience to their work guiding the development of Indiana University. They have run hospitals, overseen economic missions to foreign countries, sat on the boards of corporations and nonprofits, and founded companies.
The current trustees. Three trustees are elected by IU alumni to serve three-year terms. Elections are staggered, with one position filled each year. Indiana’s governor appoints five trustees, who also serve three-year terms, and a student trustee, who serves a two-year term.
On August 12, 2022, the boards of trustees of both Purdue and IU announced that IUPUI will split into two separate universities, with completion of the split to be finished by the fall 2024 semester.
