On 20 February 1888, Vincent van Gogh arrived in Arles. Before that, he had lived in Paris for two years, where he had developed a thoroughly modern style of painting.
La Fundación Vincent Van Gogh. La Fundación Vincent Van Gogh Arles rinde homenaje a su trabajo mientras explora su impacto en la creación actual. La relación con el arte contemporáneo ha sido parte del principio de la Fundación desde sus inicios.
It was in Arles that Van Gogh produced – within the space of just 15 months between February 1988 and May 1888 – his finest masterpieces. Inaugurated in April 2014, the Fondation Vincent van Gogh Arles pays due homage to the work of Van Gogh while at the same time exploring his impact upon art today.
En la prestigiosa Fondation Vincent van Gogh de Arlés, creada en 2014, además de numerosas obras de artistas contemporáneos se exhiben cuadros de las colecciones del Van Gogh Museum y el Kröller-Müller Museum que se prestan para exposiciones temporales.
En un edificio no muy grande pero si muy bonito se encuentra la fundación Van Gogh. Un pequeño recorrido entre cuadros del pintor, y algunos pintores que influyeron en su obra y tiempo como Monticelli, Picasso, Calder, Richier, De Chirico, Te hacen pasar una tarde muy agradable y nada cansada.
Vincent Van Gogh se instaló en Arlés entre febrero de 1888 y mayo de 1889, y durante su estancia el pintor neerlandés realizó más de 300 dibujos y pinturas, entre las que están sus obras maestras más bellas.
