Foreign students see Poland as a poor and backward country whose inhabitants are very religious and patriotic. Foreign media, which are a source of stereotypes, influence foreign students’ perception of Poland before their arrival in Poland.
The purpose of this article is to present Poland and Poles as seen by foreign students, who come to Poland as participants of European student exchange programs, and to analyze the roots of stereotypes as well as the possibilities to modify the stereotypes held by foreigners.
