Swordfish are found around the world in tropical, temperate, and sometimes cold waters of the Atlantic, Indian, and Pacific Oceans, including the waters around the U.S. Pacific Islands and off the U.S. West Coast.
Swordfish are elongated, round-bodied, and lose all teeth and scales by adulthood. These fish are found widely in tropical and temperate parts of the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian Oceans, and can typically be found from near the surface to a depth of 550 m (1,800 ft), and exceptionally up to depths of 2,234 m. [2]
Particularly abundant along the North Pacific transition zone near Hawaii, along the western coasts of the U.S. and Mexico, and in the Western Pacific, East of Japan. [2] Life history. Males live between 9-14 years, and females live for 15-32 years.
Swordfish are uniquely adapted to live in various environments, and they can be found in the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian oceans.

11 de nov. de 2009 · In all, 21 swordfish ( Xiphias gladius) were tagged with pop-up archival satellite tags in the Southeast Pacific. Despite problems of premature release, the information obtained provided insight into the horizontal and vertical behaviour of the species in the area.
