The Brittas Empire is a British sitcom created and originally written by Andrew Norriss and Richard Fegen. Chris Barrie plays Gordon Brittas, the well-meaning but incompetent manager of Whitbury New Town Leisure Centre. The show ran for seven series and 53 episodes — including two Christmas specials — from 1991 to 1997 on BBC1.
Thu, Feb 7, 1991. Gordon closes the leisure center for a whole day to make the staff fight the 'crime wave' of petty thefts. Treating everyone as suspects stirs commotion, and Danny and Mandy, feeling targeted, expose themselves as ex-cons. Gordon sets a trap, which only makes it worse.
Gordon takes the staff for a military-style team-building exercise into Wales. While dealing with the rigors of the wild, they are relentlessly pursued by would-be assassins. Gordon's well-intentioned motivational skills make things worse.
