John Burroughs School (JBS) is a private, non-sectarian college-preparatory school with 631 students in grades 7–12. Its 49-acre (200,000 m 2) campus [3] is located in Ladue, Missouri, a suburb of St. Louis. Founded in 1923, it is named for U.S. naturalist and philosopher John Burroughs.
Drey Land, the school’s wilderness camp in the Ozarks, is a valuable resource for orientation programs, biology field research, outdoor education and service outings. A concern for nature has been central to a Burroughs education from the beginning.
14 de may. de 2024 · Burroughs is an independent, college preparatory school (grades 7-12). Fifteen seniors in the Class of 2024 are National Merit semifinalists. A core curriculum in humanities and STEM is balanced by opportunities in athletics and in the fine, practical, and performing arts.

27 de oct. de 2023 · Oct 27 2023. This fall, 7th graders traveled to Drey Land, our school's wilderness camp in the Ozarks' Pioneer Forest. The 7th grade program offers students an orientation to Burroughs and a chance to get to know their new classmates better while spending time in the great outdoors.
Biography. Born in St. Louis, Missouri, to a wealthy manufacturer of glassware, Drey was a 1935 graduate of John Burroughs School and a 1939 graduate of Antioch College. [2] In 1937, he was 20 and traveling with six other students in Shanghai when war broke out between China and Japan.
