It begins from the date of divorce under judicial control, judicial divorce, dissolution of marriage, or the husband's death. The waiting period for a pregnant divorced woman ends with the birth of the child or after a miscarriage.
Both men and women can start divorce proceedings in Morocco, although reconciliation and mediation are encouraged before this takes place. Divorce proceedings take place in the secular court, rather than before religious officials. The parties can always get divorced via mutual consent.
It aims to scrutinise how divorce on grounds of divorce is put into practice by the judiciary, how Moroccan men and women make use of it and how changes on a procedural and institutional level affect the implementation of the new divorce procedure.
