They were both outstanding performers, but Prince was masterful on multiple instruments while MJ was not. For me, that tips the scales. That's not to say anyone is wrong for preferring MJ, but if we're talking about mastery of their craft, I don't see an argument against Prince.

A veritable boy genius who was an incredibly talented composer. He'd achieved greatness at 13 and went on to compose many more symphonies, etc, and was often himself the soloist.
