The Nazz was an American rock band formed in Philadelphia in 1967. The group was founded by guitarist and main songwriter Todd Rundgren and bassist Carson Van Osten . [3] Drummer Thom Mooney and vocalist/keyboardist Robert "Stewkey" Antoni joined soon after.

6 de feb. de 2023 · On the occasion of that release from Purple Pyramid Records, Rundgren spoke with Goldmine about his earliest days in music. Modeled after intelligent and high-energy British bands like The Who, Nazz was a progenitor of the style that would become known as power pop.
But The Nazz debut album wasn't extremely popular--perhaps due in part from the shift from the trend of harmony based vocals and the mod freakout styled bands to psychedelia, longer hair and hippie flower power culture that was springing up from the 1967-1970 era.
