Bulawayo es la segunda mayor ciudad de Zimbabue tras la capital Harare. Tiene estatus de provincia y su población es de más de un millón de habitantes. Bulawayo es un importante centro industrial. Está situada junto al río Matsheumhlope al suroeste del país.
Bulawayo, second largest city in Zimbabwe and the chief city of Matabeleland (i.e., the Ndebele-dominated western third of the country). The city lies along the Matsheumlope River in the southwestern part of the country, 4,405 feet (1,341 meters) above sea level in undulating savanna terrain.
Historically, Bulawayo has been the principal industrial centre of Zimbabwe; its factories produce cars and car products, building materials, electronic products, textiles, furniture, and food products. Bulawayo is also the hub of Zimbabwe's rail network and the headquarters of the National Railways of Zimbabwe.

It has a lovely historic feel to it, and it's worth spending a night or two, especially given it's a gateway to Matobo National Park, and an ideal staging point for Hwange National Park and Vic Falls.
