In the 1970s, Bramhall formed The Nightcrawlers with Marc Benno, which also included Jimmie Vaughan's younger brother Stevie Ray Vaughan on guitar. While in The Nightcrawlers, Bramhall co-wrote the tune "Dirty Pool," which appeared on Stevie Ray Vaughan's debut album, Texas Flood.

Bramhall was also a key cog in the blues renaissance that took place in Austin in the mid-70s.
Stevie Ray Vaughan was an American blues rock guitarist, singer, and songwriter, and the frontman for the band Double Trouble. He is often regarded as one of the greatest guitarists and blues musicians of all time. During his career, he released four studio albums, one live album, and several singles.

10 de feb. de 2007 · Doyle Bramhall is most notably recognized as the author of many of Stevie Ray Vaughan's songs, but as a blues singer and drummer, he proves he can stand on his own with the release of "Bird Nest On the Ground." Roughly more than half of the album is covers and the rest are from his own pen.
