Shangrao, city, northeastern Jiangxi sheng (province), southeastern China. It lies along the Xin River, about 110 miles (180 km) east of Nanchang, the provincial capital, and is on the main rail and highway route from Nanchang to the coastal ports of Hangzhou and Shanghai.
Famous as a Taoist sacred mountain, Sanqing Mountain, also Sanqingshan (三清山) is located in Shangrao City, the northeast of Jiangxi Province. It was listed as a World Geopark and UNESCO World Heritage Site for its outstanding landscape, unique geological formations, and diverse plants.
